Zzzz
It attacks me late at night,
and sometimes during the day,
there are weapons of choice to fight it,
that will sometimes keep it away.
I can take a quick shower,
which will work as a stopgap,
it is effective for a while,
about as effective as a nap.
If I make the room cooler,
it will help me stay awake,
that only works for about an hour,
but I'll get what I can take.
I heard you need eight hours of sleep a day,
but I average six or less,
so I come into period one sleepy,
and my brain is a total mess.
It is now past 2 A.M.,
way past my usual bedtime,
staying awake from this point on,
is always an upward climb.
I am getting tired now,
considering the hours I keep,
there would be more to this poem,
but instead I'll go to sleep.
