The pikachu puzzle set was a surprise hit for some reason, I guess everyone had younger siblings. Another hot item was this Nerf gun that shot plastic, suction bullets. One of the senators, Maribel, dropped off her gift, but had to go. When this guy, Ikaika, picked a gift, it was Maribel's. It came in a regular plastic bag, and I think it was a book. Unfortunately, since Maribel was in such a rush, she left her keys in that plastic bag.
Imagine our surprise when we saw that Maribel's gift was a book, and keys to her apartment. Ikaika commented something to the effect of “wow, this is like the best gift ever”. When Maribel came back a while later to retrieve her keys, she got a lot of laughs, and a lot of applause.
Another one of the gifts was a 6-pack of beer. After the secret santa escapade was over, a bunch of us went back to the office to get our stuff. They were going to order pizza and drink the beer, along with more beer that someone's girlfriend was going to bring later that evening. Bunch of drunks . . . we have total representative government I tell you. Anyway, I don't drink, so I was going to follow my friend Sandra out when one of the senators asked me to stay.
I told him that I don't drink, but then I saw this girl Janell staying. Now Janell is this super small, like 4'11, 100 pound Japanese girl. Super cute and innocent looking. At this point, if Janell's staying, I can't be like “well, I don't drink”. That just wouldn't be the cool or macho thing to say. Anyway, to this day, I still blame Janell for me starting to drink. I don't drink a lot, rarely actually, but wouldn't have started if it weren't for this cute, 4'11 Japanese girl.
